Why I work for a "Europe for Christ!":
I am Adriana from Barcelona, Spain, currently I’m in my last year of a Law degree and I’m 24 years old.
First of all I would like to express how thankful I am with Europe for Christ, for this chance to get involve in this project and try to spread this wonderful message into Spain. The team is so nice and kind!
A got an e-mail saying that a Christian intern from Spain was needed in order to help with the project. Afterwards I looked at the website up and I was delighted with the message. I was so disappointed when in the end it was ruled out to mention the Christians roots in the preamble of the European Constitution, it was something personal I can’t describe it, but I was sad. We were denying the obvious and real heritage of Europe. It was a matter of Christophobia. Everything nowadays is against Christianity, in a subtle way they assert that we shouldn’t mix politics with religion but this is an evil assert. If we are Christians we should be coherent with our values and acts so we must have a voice in the public stage.
I’m catholic and I have the gift of the faith, and as a young girl I have realized how difficult is for us, the Christians, to be respected as anyone else and sometimes I have felt ashamed when I expressed my convictions, or because my deeds or whatever.. It seemed that for the mere fact of being catholic I hadn’t the right to talk, to express my opinion and I was hold in a very low regard by my colleagues. Nowadays even in Spain it’s really a difficult situation. Our history and legacy is mainly Christian, as is our culture. There is a ban to express Christian values in public places.
The government controls all the aspects of the citizen, further it is taking control of the private sphere of the man of the street. The government should promote and safe all the good initiatives and to fit in this reality of a great deal of Christians that must have a representation in the government as well as the others.
We live imbued in the culture of death and as the Pope Benedict XVI said the dictatorship relativism wants to reach and control all the phases… Europe has to come back to its identity, retrieving all its values and this is the only way that Europe will succeed and will be a place of happiness, respect, prosperity… Shall we lose the most precious that we have? Our culture, religion, values, art and most important, the soul of Europe? If we don’t have well defined our lines and priorities and values then little by little other cultures are going to conquer us, because it will be easy to destroy a civilization that lacks of culture, history and values.
I think that now we are like martyrs, we suffer the incomprehension, the loneliness, a silence martyrdom but we are not alone we are with God that leads us. We have to take delight in the love of God, God loves us so much!!
Since I have realized how much God love us, I understood that we need to tell everybody that He loves each one of us and that we should trust in him and explain to Him our dreams… He wants to hear our wishes. Why not a Christian Europe? We can do nothing but He can do it, we only have to trust entirely in him and ask him for that.
Dear friends, I encourage you to sign up as soon as possible in this challenging and beautiful project. You have just to pray a daily father for Europe for Christ! And if you are able to give a donation, it doesn’t mind the amount, as you can afford it.. This donation will go entirely to finance this project of Europe for Christ!, its diffusion, and the persons that dedicate all the time in taking up this amazing mission to get the Christians values strength back… everything for a Europe for Christ!
